Westlake University: 6-week free summer research in China, free accommodation and $255 stipend.
The Summer Research Internship at Westlake University is a one-month program designed for both local and international students.
Each summer, participants work on research projects in advanced fields of science and technology and become part of a team of renowned scientists. At the same time, the program includes participation in research forums and interdisciplinary roundtable discussions held at Westlake University and in the surrounding Hangzhou region.
The research internship is conducted at the following schools:
• School of Science
• School of Engineering
• School of Life Sciences
• School of Medicine
This program runs from July 13 to August 14, 2026. The program is conducted in English.

Who is the grant for?
For Bachelor’s and Master’s students, as well as those who have recently graduated from these levels.
Grant benefits:
Selected participants will receive the following financial benefits:
• Free participation
• Free on-campus accommodation
• Each participant will receive a stipend of 1750 RMB (approximately 255 USD)
Participants must cover their own travel costs to and from China, visa expenses, and food expenses (food costs can be covered using the provided stipend).
Requirements:
• Must not be a citizen of China
• The applicant is expected to graduate from a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in 2027 or 2028, or must have recently graduated from one of these levels
• The applicant must be studying or have graduated in fields related to the chosen research project
Required documents:
• Copy of passport
• Diploma and degree certificates
• Academic transcripts
• English language certificate (IELTS, TOEFL, etc.)
• List and abstracts of academic publications or other documents demonstrating academic potential
Applicants who pass the document screening stage will be invited to an online or phone interview.
