On November 22, 2024, a meeting was held at the Samarkand branch of Tashkent State University of Economics on the topic "Religious extremism as a threat to societal stability," organized by the branch's legal advisor M. Kholmatov and group tutor Bektemirov Shokir. The meeting was conducted with first-year students of group 124 from the Faculty of Economics, Business Management program.
During the meeting, a comprehensive discussion took place on how extremism and terrorism have become serious threats to the national security of individual countries and to global society as a whole. The students were informed that currently, various extremist and terrorist groups, in their pursuit of a particular ideology, disguise the sacred religion of Islam and misuse terms such as "jihad," "takbir," "martyr," and "hijra" – terms that are sacred in Islam – in a distorted manner. In reality, all these claims are primarily directed against Islam, aiming to fight it and portray it negatively. Furthermore, such actions pose a threat to global peace and lead to the incitement of various conflicts and instability, ultimately resulting in the potential breakdown of society. Additionally, the discussion addressed how ignorance, narrow-mindedness, and fanaticism contribute to such conflicts, while providing crucial information on these pressing issues.
